Trade is one piece
Two countries agreeing to settle some trade in local currencies is different from companies changing how they borrow or central banks changing reserve allocations.
Watch the evidence
The useful questions are about scale and persistence. Is the change visible in a broad data series, or is it one announcement? Does it alter the cost or convenience of transactions?
The investment leap
A currency narrative alone cannot tell us the next move in gold, Bitcoin or equities. Real interest rates, liquidity and demand can matter at the same time.
My takeaway
I prefer a specific question—what is changing, where, and by how much—to a prediction that one currency is about to disappear.
